Raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, Becki moved to Las Cruces to attend graduate school at NMSU. After earning a Master’s degree in anthropology and a Ph.D. in English, she – like so many others who discover this city – never left.

Becki has filled multiple roles at NMSU: student, staff member, and instructor. She currently works for NMSU’s Arrowhead Center, assisting with research and program development that assists entrepreneurs and small businesses to improve the regional economy. She is also an Aggie sports fan and a frequent attendee at games.

Becki’s husband, Mike, is also an NMSU alum and is a firefighter/EMT for the City of Las Cruces. They share a passion for mountain biking and boxing; and share their home with their beloved dog, Dawkins. Once they realized she wasn’t coming back, Becki’s parents moved to Las Cruces in 2012, as well. A homeowner in District 3 since early 2006, Becki is proud to live in one of the city’s most history-rich areas. She considers her neighbors one of her greatest assets in her bid to become a City Councilor, and will carry their voices with her, should she be elected.

opportunities and growth
for district

One of Becki’s highest concerns is making sure that District 3 has opportunities to grow and progress, as other Las Cruces districts are experiencing. Las Cruces will be stronger when all areas of the city have the chance to grow together.

Becki unequivocally supports living wages for all workers, ensuring that laborers’ income is sufficient to afford them quality housing, nutritious food, utilities, and transportation. Combining living wages with access to affordable education is key to social mobility for District 3 residents.

As an avid cyclist, Becki is particularly interested in making sure our streets are safe for all modes of transportation, including walking. She supports the Complete Streets initiative to make this possible.

She is also committed to seeing that District 3 infrastructure, such as lighting, roads, and parks, receives the attention its residents deserve. These elements are not only essential to public safety, but also to quality of life.

Above all, Becki’s top priority is learning what the residents of District 3 – her fellow community members – need most in their neighborhoods. She is ready to listen and learn to see what is
important to you.
